I have lived most of my life in western New York state. I have seen this part of the United States move from a thriving industrial economy to struggling to define itself economically. Like much of United States the area has shifted from industrial to post-industrial with attendant detritus. I am moved by the melancholic beauty of the post-industrial landscape of my home and seek not to reproduce it in my work, but to capture of the feeling of it and bring some authenticity to the work. I strive for my work to be authentically me, with a nod toward how I feel about my home which has shaped me.
